ECA WA's highly experienced technical team are available to take member calls via the Technical Hotline between 7am and 5pm AWST, Monday to Friday. For queries outside of the Hotline open hours, our Technical Knowledge Base (TKB) is available 24/7!

The Technical Hotline is a free* service for eligible members, providing an easy way for electrical contracting businesses to access prompt and reliable technical assistance when required.

24/7 Access to the ECA WA Technical Knowledge Base (TKB)

TKB is our online searchable Technical Knowledge Base, a product designed by ECA WA specifically for the electrical industry.

With TKB, members can easily search the Wiring Rules, a variety of Standards, network operator requirements, technical bulletins and more, 24/7 via their tablet or smartphone.

In the past 12 months, 40,000 articles were viewed on TKB and members carried out 9,500 searches. It’s easy to see why more than 90% of members use this unique and valuable technical service.

How do I access the Technical Hotline and what hours is it available?

The Technical Hotline is available for members between 7 am and 5 pm AWST, Monday to Friday. Standard call charges apply and it does not operate on public holidays.

What is the Technical Knowledge Base (TKB) and how can I use it?

The TKB is a searchable online resource where members can access the Wiring Rules, Industry Standards, network operator requirements, technical bulletins and more. Available 24/7 via tablet or smartphone.

Who is eligible to use the Technical Hotline?

Business Members can use the Technical Hotline. Associate Apprentice and Electrical Worker members can access the TKB but are not eligible for Hotline calls.

How quickly will I get an answer to my technical question?

Responses vary based on query complexity, but the Technical Hotline is designed to provide prompt support during operating hours, and TKB articles are available instantly. 

Am I able to download the as3000 wiring rules for free from the TKB?

The Technical Knowledge Base (TKB) provides members with convenient online access to standards including the AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules through a searchable, easy-to-use format. While the full standard isn’t available as a free downloadable document, members can view and reference the Wiring Rules directly within the TKB anytime.
