Equip-Safe delivers face-to-face, practical training at our purpose-built facility in Welshpool. This hands-on approach ensures you develop the real-world skills required to operate equipment safely and competently. At this stage, courses are not offered online because practical assessment is compulsory for most plant and high-risk competencies.

Yes. Equip-Safe can offer group bookings, and we can also deliver on-site training at your workplace if suitable facilities and equipment are available. To enquire about specific arrangements, please contact Equip-Safe.
Equip-Safe is located at Unit 1, 9-13 Kewdale Rd, Welshpool WA 6106. Free on-site parking is available, including space for trucks and larger vehicles, making access easy for both individual trainees and workplace groups.
Equip-Safe offers the CTF Funded Orange Card Combo training for WA apprentices and the Fee-free Construction Industry Preparation Skill Set funded by the State Government.
The CTF funded Orange Card Combo training is designed for current apprentices. The Fee-free funded course from the State Government is designed for those looking to gain skills in priority industry areas like healthcare, IT, building and construction, and hospitality, to help build WA’s skilled workforce.
If you are an eligible apprentice, the Construction Training Fund (CTF) is subsidising 70% of the course fee. Plus, if you are employed by an ECA WA business member, ECA WA funds the remaining 30% of the course free. Making this course 100% free.
The State Government funds this course through the Lower Fees, Local Skills initiative which offers qualifications with skills that employers are looking for across a range of industries including building and construction, essential care services, IT, hospitality, and more. This means that part (or all) of your training fees are covered by the WA State Government to make essential skills more affordable.
Yes, course fees do not apply as Skill Sets are 100% free-free for all* students and do not incur resource or course fees.

If you are of school age (i.e. born on or after 1st July 2007), but are not currently enrolled in secondary school, a copy of your NOA (Notice of Arrangement) or Exemption which has been accepted by the Department of Education, will need to be provided to Equip-Safe as part of the enrolment process. Inability to provide a copy will result in Equip-Safe not being able to accept your enrolment.
Please note that existing trainees or apprentices are not eligible for the fee-free training arrangements.
The Department of Training and Workforce Development’s VET Fees and Charges Policy outlines eligibility for subsidised training in WA.
First Nations people, young people, people out of work or receiving income support, unpaid carers, people with disability, and women facing economic insecurity are particularly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity for fee free training.

You are still able to undertake the Skill Set training if you already hold one or more of the units of competency that form the Skill Set.

We require at least one form of ID for all our courses. However, the below courses have additional ID requirements prescribed by Regulations including WorkSafe WA.
We will need to see the originals of: one form of primary documentation (such as your driver’s licence or passport); OR at least three forms of secondary ID, with at least one of these documents showing your full name and date of birth.

In Australia, all learners who enrol in nationally recognised training must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). We are unable to issue any qualifications or statements of attainment without one. Additionally, you will not be able to access any government or industry funding unless we have received it.
You can easily find or obtain your USI by searching or applying online.
Equip-Safe will only confirm your enrolment once we believe fee-free funding criteria has been met. However, should you be deemed ineligible for a fee-free place, after your enrolment is confirmed, Equip-Safe will be required to invoice you for the cost of the course.

The fee free courses will be available at WA TAFE colleges and Department of Training and Workforce Development approved private training providers.
These courses will become fee free from 1 January 2025 until the end of 2026.
All students who enrol in one of the fee free building and construction courses in 2025 and 2026 at a TAFE college or approved private training provider will be able to complete their course under the fee free arrangement.
All enquiries regarding eligibility, course and resource fees should be made to the TAFE college or private training provider.
There are no course fees for fee free courses.
TAFE colleges or approved training providers will be able to provide details of any additional fees that apply to the course students are interested in.

The Construction Training Fund provides funding support for training of eligible workers in the construction industry. We acknowledge the support of the CTF in reducing the costs of training for eligible workers. For more information, see the CTF website.
If the CTF reviews your information, and finds that you are not an eligible worker, we will issue you with an additional invoice for the outstanding amount for the full cost of the training.
CTF subsidised course fees may be available to persons currently working in the building and construction industry, or unemployed persons who have worked in that trade in the previous six months. However, it is not available on all courses.
The fee subsidy does not apply to persons working in the security and mining industries or Government employees.

You can complete High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) training through a WorkSafe-approved Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Equip-Safe is a recognised training provider offering nationally accredited HRWL assessments in WA.
After completing your practical assessment and receiving your Notice of Satisfactory Assessment (NSA), you can apply online through the WorkSafe WA High Risk Work Licence portal. You’ll need your unique application number, identity documents, and payment for the additional licence class.
In WA, a HRWL is required for operating certain high-risk equipment or performing high-risk tasks, but not limited to, the following classe:

If you hold a valid HRWL from another Australian state or territory, you can apply to transfer or renew it through WorkSafe WA. Submit your application online with proof of identity and your current licence details. In most cases, no additional training is required if the licence is current and equivalent.
Yes. Once you receive your NSA, you may perform the high-risk work for up to 60 days while your HRWL application is being processed. If you complete a high-risk course with Equip-Safe - we will lodge your application with WorkSafe WA within 60 days of the assessment.
